Energy is everything: It’s how we connect, how we travel, how we work, and how we play. Clean energy (including energy efficiency and renewable energy) has many benefits including lower carbon footprint, cleaner air, and reduced energy bills, yet it is not often taught in our schools. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to energy literacy principles and explore lessons from free curriculum for teaching hands-on energy lessons all geared towards energy awareness and usage reduction. Three main (free!) resources will be highlighted in this session: AK EnergySmart, Alaska Resource Education (ARE), and National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project. Participants will explore at least one activity that can be modified for all grade levels, so be ready to move around!
